Fellowships

Start a Fellowship

Change the conversation at your local club

Prepare Your Heart
Ensure you have the right heart and mindset to lead others in faith, knowing your gifts from God and being ready to serve.

Gather a Team
Assemble a partner or a small team to help you organize and lead the Fellowship.

Choose a Meeting Location

  • Preferred: Meet at a golf course or club (dining rooms, meeting rooms, or locker rooms). This provides a familiar environment where non-churchgoers may feel comfortable.
  • Alternatives: A home near the course, a local restaurant, or even a church if necessary (though a church may reduce outreach potential).

Decide the Frequency of Meetings

  • Weekly: Ideal for ongoing Bible study, prayer, and community support.
  • Monthly: Especially for groups that meet around golf or meals.
  • Annual: Some Fellowships meet annually but maintain contact year-round through prayer and support.

Set a Time
Choose a time that works best for your group:

  • Morning: Popular with men’s groups.
  • Lunch: Convenient for working individuals.
  • Evening: Good for those in retirement communities or those who prefer after-work gatherings.

Golf Together (Optional)
While not all Fellowships include golf, some meet monthly for golf outings, and others play after their regular meetings. Consider organizing annual trips or tournaments to introduce new members.

Maintain an Open Invitation
Your Fellowship should be open and welcoming, unless club rules restrict access. Be mindful of privacy rules and restrictions at private clubs.

If the Club Says No
If the club refuses to allow your Fellowship, find another place to meet, such as a nearby home or restaurant. Pray for opportunities to open doors at the club in the future.

Become an Official Links Fellowship

Have the principal leader and two other founding members sign the “STARTING A LINKS FELLOWSHIP” form

Register your group officially to use the “Links Fellowship” name, be listed on their website, and receive resources and logos for promoting your group.

  • Central Region Director – Drew Hamilton (drew@linksplayers.com)
  • West Region Director – Chris Hermann (chris@linksplayers.com)
  • National Women’s Director – Meredith Kirk (meredith@linksplayers.com)

By following these steps, you’ll be equipped to start a Links Fellowship that integrates faith and fellowship in a golf-friendly environment.

Finally, when three or more people in a club come together in agreement around the five tenets of Links Players: Love God and others, Integrate Christ’s reign and integrity into all of life, Network friends together in Christ, Kindle compassion for the poor and needy, Share Christ through the great game of golf, Links Fellowships begin to meet and invite others to join.
