Welcome to Links Players

A quick overview of what we do and why

We know, it’s hard to be “the new guy.” So we’ve created this quick look at who we are at Links Players and why we do what we do.

FOR GOLFERS (AND OTHER PEOPLE, TOO)
We started as a ministry for golfers, but as the years have passed, we’ve found that we also reach those who know or love golfers but who are not golfers themselves. We also have found ourselves in conversation with those who might be social members at a country club, because they often approach life in the same way as golf members.

WHAT WE MEAN WHEN WE SAY MINISTRY
To us, ministry means caring for a person beyond their golf skills, business savvy, social connections, or anything else that you can’t take with you beyond this life. And yes, because we come at what we do from the perspective of Jesus’ teaching in the Scriptures, we do believe that what happens beyond this life is far more important than what happens while we’re here. Jesus asked, “What does if profit a person to gain the whole world yet lose their soul?” So we want to help men and women consider what’s happening with their soul. That, in a nutshell, is ministry.

HOW DO WE MINISTER?
Most people think of priests and pastors as ministers, but anyone who has been truly loved by another knows it doesn’t take a “professional” to minister to our deepest needs. So we establish a presence in local country clubs and golf facilities, where men and women can minister to one another in Links Fellowships. We try to change the conversation from incidental matters to important ones.

Waco FellowshipTHE ACTIVITIES OF LINKS FELLOWSHIPS
In Links Fellowships we establish a safe place for discussion of biblical texts and biblical topics, as well as to pray for each other and build supportive relationships. Here we encourage one another to live a life honoring to Jesus in thanks for the salvation he provided by his death and resurrection. Many Fellowships are also involved in supporting the needy in their community.
