One generation shall praise Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts. (Psalm 145:4, ESV)
History matters. Especially when it comes to Providential history.
I was very blessed to travel to Washington, D.C., on the Fourth of July. The first thing I did was spend three hours walking through the Bible Museum. The last time I was there was during the Links Players Women’s 2nd Annual Retreat.
This time, the museum had the Dead Sea Scrolls on display. I had seen them while living in Israel, but it was amazing to me that Americans could see them without traveling so far.
Another exhibit displayed the influence of the Bible in America. I’ve taught a course on the Providential History of America, but seeing these displays sealed my gratitude for everyone who lived their lives for the glory of God and died defending these truths.
Next, I went to the National Archives Museum to see the Declaration of Independence. What heroes! Yes, they were considered traitors by tyrants, but they are my heroes. I live in the freedoms they fought for. For hours, I read their personal stories. The history of the Bible was moving forward through the lives of those who courageously chose truth and accepted God’s grace—the divine power needed to accomplish God’s will for His glory.
This brings me to the history of Links Players. Like the maps I received at the museums, the Links Players website holds many areas waiting to be discovered. Of course, my favorite has to do with the history. Under the About Us dropdown, here are your choices:
What Is a Links Player?
You can watch a video by Jeffery Cranford, President of Links Players. You will also see the names of the founders and the Links Players Mission. Staff members and a guest writer wrote a study on this mission, which I highly recommend for your fellowships: “The Links Players Commitment” series under Resources > Bible Studies. It’s like understanding the depth behind the short version of the Bill of Rights that I have memorized.
What We Do
Here you will find the Links Players Overview and the First Links Letter. Wally Armstrong shares the vision God gave him. Be sure to look at the Special News Updates and Special Events. It’s amazing to see what God began, how He has redirected and prepared us, and the foundation He has laid for the future. Links Players International is no small task, but the door has now been opened.
What We Believe
Dig deeper! There’s more on display. “What We Believe” contains the Statement of Doctrine. For me, this should align with what I believe—the truths I’m exploring and learning in the Bible and the freedoms I cherish. It is a choice to belong to this assembly of believers in God, the Savior, and the Holy Spirit. Speaking of the Savior…
Why Jesus?
This page provides a wonderful explanation for Jews waiting for their Messiah and for Gentiles seeking the truth of God and resources to confirm their beliefs. I also recommend the Spiritual Due Diligence series and What the Bible Says About Jesus: Savior, Lord, Treasure Bible study. They’re on my bucket list!
Our Team
The Links Players International team has expanded over these 40 years. The Women’s page has even more to discover. These are the people who make this ministry happen. But keep exploring the website for additional resources and golf tip videos (I love these!).
You are receiving devotionals from many writers who have been blessed by God through this ministry. I write this devotion a little differently, dedicating it to those whose footsteps I follow.
Prayer: To God be the glory. Amen!
