Hope And God’s Love

Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23, NIV)

I don’t know about you, but every time I walk up to the first tee I am filled with hope and expectations that this might be my best round ever. It doesn’t matter what happened yesterday, for there is a sense that this is a new day and anything is possible. Hope springs eternal. Does that seem like too big an idea for a golf game? I truly believe God wants us to feel and live this way—how can we hope for big things if we cannot hope for small things?

Our life in relationship to God is one of the big things. We can sure find hope there! God’s compassion and love for us is new every morning. Every time we open our eyes to a new day, God has something for us to experience that will allow us to see him better and experience his love in a new and fresh way. Yesterday is gone with all its trouble and a new day is waiting. We will experience trials and setbacks as God allows them in our life, knowing that he is using them to make us more like him. Our great hope and joy is that we won’t be consumed by those things that come against us. We know that we live in the great love of God and nothing can separate us from that.

I love golf because it always gives me a chance to try again. God does the same.Our God is the greatest optimist in the world. No matter what we have done or how far we have drifted away from him, his love for us does not change. He offers it to us over and over again. Every morning we have another chance to experience it. The only reason we don’t is because we choose not to.

I love golf because it always gives me a chance to try again. God does the same. Every morning he is waiting to start out with us on this day in our life. God’s love is new every morning and his faithfulness to us is exceedingly great.

We play golf knowing it is hard and success is not guaranteed. We live life in the same way. Knowing that we can try again tomorrow gives us hope. Hope that we will become all that God wants us to be. Hope that we will be pleasing to him. Hope that we will faithfully make it to the end. If we messed up yesterday, God’s love for us remains unchanged. He wants us to try again. He will help us, and he will never stop loving us.
