The Posture to Receive

Bobbi Stricker stood on the range behind her dad, Steve, and younger sister Izzi, late December at the PNC Championship.

The young pro and her mom, Nicki, caddie annually at the family-oriented event. Bobbi played tennis in high school and didn’t start playing golf competitively until she moved to Wisconsin, where she walked on to the Badger team with the goal of breaking 80 consistently.

As Bobbi’s game took off, it was her famous father – a former Ryder Cup Captain and 12-time winner on the PGA Tour – who caddied for her at LPGA Q-School.

Going into last year’s first stage, Bobbi felt that her game was more fundamentally sound than ever, which is why missing out by one shot felt like a gut punch.

For the first time since she graduated in 2021, Bobbi wondered if professional golf was still her path.

At the beginning of 2025, Bobbi felt the Lord put the word “posture” on her heart. More specifically, she desired to be in the correct posture to receive. That meant staying consistently in the word and surrounding herself with like-minded people.

“I feel like the Lord speaks through people for me,” said Bobbi. “I have a really cool circle of Holy Spirit-filled people that I’ve been really leaning on.”

There are times, she said, when someone in that trusted circle offers an answer to something they don’t even know she needs.

With no status on any tour for 2026, Bobbi kept her heart open as she waited for direction from the Lord.

Proverbs 16:9 says, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” (NIV)

Does the Lord speak to us?

In Numbers 22, God used a donkey to speak to Balaam and change his course. He can speak to us through other people, or through a still, small voice.

If we are ready to receive, God will show us the way.

When life got hard in 2025, Bobbi found that her “good posture” put her in a position to face the storms.

“I was at the feet of Jesus, standing up straight, yet on my knees, all at the same time,” she wrote on Instagram. “The Lord put me in a posture that allowed only one response to the valley I was walking through … to listen, to glorify and to receive the Lord’s blessing as I pass through it.”

Prayer: Father God, thank you for all the ways you speak to us. Forgive us for the times we forge our own way. Thank you for helping us find your way, again and again.
