Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2, NIV)

A few weeks ago, our beloved Golden Retriever Molly got sick. At first, we told those closest to us, asking for prayer and some logistical help as she was checked into our vet’s hospital.

As the days went by and we moved her to see a specialist, we widened our prayer circle. Molly is only 4 years old, and we feared that her liver was failing.

There have been times in recent years when I’ve reached out to my Facebook community (people I know in real life!) for specific prayer requests. I’ve been vulnerable about our adoption process and the death of my father.

But when it comes to Golf Twitter (now X), I’m much more guarded about what I share and how I share it.

When Molly got sick, though, I decided to ask my followers for help. We needed prayer, and I’ve been posting photos of our two Goldens on that app for years.

In Galatians 6:2, Paul tells us to “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

There’s something incredibly powerful about being surrounded by prayer, even if it’s from people who aren’t in the same room or from those you’ve never met.

In Matthew 7:7, it’s laid out very clearly in the Sermon on the Mount that we are to ask. We asked for healing, for wisdom, for provision, and for peace.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.”

People I’ve never met who follow my account for golf content prayed for our family. They sent along photos of their own pets, reaching out with their paws through the app.

As Molly began to heal and I posted praise report updates, I could feel the warmth (and relief!) in the replies. So many people had become invested in our girl. So many could relate.

Why then do we so often hesitate to ask others for prayer?

The country singer Anne Wilson writes in her song God Story – “I’m proof that we’re all only one prayer away from a testimony.”

Invite others to pray with you and let them be part of your testimony.

To God be the glory!

PRAYER: Father God, we thank you for the gift of being able to come to you in all circumstances. Help us open our eyes to opportunities to have others come alongside us as we seek your presence and your will.
