To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ (Ephesians 3:8, NASB)

In 1988, there was excitement out on the PGA Tour because, for the first time, a player, Curtis Strange, earned $1,000,000 in prize money.

That generation of players appreciated all that Arnold Palmer did for the game to bring sponsors and money to the tour, allowing them to make a good living playing golf.

It was unfathomable to think that 36 years later, the leading money winner on the PGA Tour would rake in more than $64 million from his on-course play.

There are many things that take place today that previous generations could never have imagined; however, there is one thing that will always be beyond human comprehension – the love God has for all of us.

In the book of Ephesians, Paul writes about how he was chosen by God to reveal the “mystery of Christ, which in other generations was not made known” (Ephesians 3:4-5).

The nation of Israel had been anticipating a Messiah, but their expectations of this Savior fell short in several aspects. One was that the Gentiles would be benefactors of their Messiah.

But it was also unfathomable to the Gentiles that the God of the Jews loved them as well and had included them in his kingdom as “fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

This was in accordance with the eternal purpose he carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him” (Ephesians 3:6,11-12).

What Paul so desired for us that the Spirit had revealed to him was that we “may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:18-19.

Though we may never fully comprehend God’s love for us through Jesus, I want to encourage you to embrace it. You cannot give away what you do not possess; therefore, we must accept God’s love and grace for us so that we may be rich in love and good deeds towards others and represent Christ to the world.

This love has the power to transform us and enable us to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us (Ephesians 3:20).

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for your love for me; may I come to know it more fully and intimately.
