There’s No Crying in Baseball or Golf?

I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and He turned to me and heard my cry. (Psalm 40:1)

When was the last time you were on the course and heard whining from someone in your group, or perhaps you were the whiner?  A few of the complaints we hear include: I can’t make anything today. The greens are too fast or too slow. I can’t catch a break, or he always gets a lucky break.

The above list could be pages of things we say or hear on the golf course.

I can’t think of a single time my whining provided any help to me or my game.  But I can think of many times I have cried out to the Lord, and so very thankful He heard my cry.

Maybe you can, too.

When I called out to Him to save me from my sins,  I cried out to Him like one drowning in the sea of despair and needing to be rescued. Helpless to save myself, He heard my cry.

I am crying out to the Lord for the men and women attending Links Fellowships all over the country to know the love of God and the joy of a relationship with Jesus.

Thankfully, because of Jesus, there is a cry we can make and receive help.  In your Bible App, do a search on “cried out” and notice how many verses appear.

In Luke 18, we read of a blind beggar sitting on the side of the road, and when he heard the noise of a crowd going by him, he asked what was going on. When he was told it was Jesus, he began shouting, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.

People around him told him to be quiet, but he only shouted louder. Jesus heard him and asked him what he wanted him to do for him.  The blind beggar said, “Lord, I want to see”.  Jesus said, “All right, receive your sight! Your faith has healed you.”

You may not hear crying from your group, but I can assure you there are those in your club crying out for help, and you may never hear a word of their cries if you aren’t listening, watching, and asking the right questions.

Life is messy, and we are messy people who need His Mercy, Grace, and Love. So, cry out to Him if you don’t know him, and if you do, cry out to Him on behalf of those who don’t.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for hearing our prayer.  Help us to hear those crying out and bring them to You.
