There is no one like the God of Israel. He rides across the heavens to help you, across the skies in majestic splendor. The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. (Deuteronomy 33:26-27, NLT)
Golf professionals seem to be surrounded by people who help them to accomplish their goals. They have swing coaches and managers. They might have someone who helps them through the mental part of their game. They have family and friends that support them, and they all have caddies to help them with the information they need to make the right swing at the right time.
We live in fearful times and often feel utterly alone in a world that seems to be spinning more and more out of control. Our only goal on some days is to make it one more day. We often can’t see what lies ahead and what unforeseen things might trip us up. Doubt and despair can gang up on us and cause us to forget that we are not alone.
Yet, as believers, we have this certainty that God is still in control and that the outcome for us and everyone else in the world lies in His hands. Not in the hands of those in power, the religious elite, or those who would condemn us because we lay claim to the power of God and respect His perspective on how we should live.
We must remind ourselves daily that no human being or evil spirit will not thwart God’s plans for the world. We may get wounded in the fight, but we will live to see a better day. Our verse for today speaks of the One who will help us as we travel through all the days of our life.
No expert, teacher, friend, or family can equal the God we serve. He is the God that rides across the heavens to help us in all his majestic splendor. He has every tool we need and the power to help us accomplish what He has called us to do.
Through it all, we can trust that we can never get outside the reach of the everlasting arms that support us. If we trust in Jesus, we know that no matter what happens to us here, we will be held in the powerful arms of God, who will not let us go. We should look to Him when we are afraid of losing the fight. We should look to Him when we fear the future. We should look to Him when all hope is lost.
He instructs us, encourages us, loves us, and finally holds us safely in His arms. We need a Savior who keeps us out of our despair and fear. That is what we have in Jesus—a safe refuge that cannot be overcome.
Prayer: Father, thank you so much that your everlasting arms protect us with certainty.
